Job Description

The East 91st Street Christian Church Next Steps Pastor is a key role on the Pastoral Staff and is accountable for guiding all adults who attend East 91st Street Christian Church to take their next steps with Jesus. They will lead and manage strategic pathways, processes, and teams (including staff and volunteers) that facilitate growth in spiritual maturity and establish a clear pathway to salvation, baptism, and discipleship for adults that is independent of Sunday morning worship services.

The Next Steps Pastor leads and oversees a multi-faceted assimilation process from visitor to an engaged member in alignment with E91’s disciple-making strategy.  They will work with the Leadership Team to create and implement an E91 Equipping Center for the development of leaders as well as providing oversight and leadership to the Young Adult Ministries, Men’s Community, Women’s Community, and Life Groups.  Their role also includes teaching classes, recruiting and training volunteers and other hands-on servant leadership, and develops intentional pathways that build meaningful relationships and lead others to serve.  In addition, they will create and maintain systems and processes necessary for coordination of all Adult Ministries and develop success metrics to measure the engagement of attendees and the effectiveness of programs and activities.

The Next Steps Pastor is required to be or become a member of East 91st Street Christian Church. A bachelor’s degree in Bible, Ministry or Christian Education is required and a minimum of six (6) to eight (8) years of experience in a similar pastoral role. Candidates should have multiple years of experience in a Restoration Movement church or their pastoral training must be from a Restoration Movement college or seminary.
