General Schedule
The 13-week league will consist of playing nine holes
each week at the Sahm Golf Course, each Monday
afternoon starting on May 19th and finishing on
August 25th. Tee times are from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30
p.m. There may be leagues before and after us so it
is important that all players arrive promptly. In the
past, we have been allowed to start early at times,
if the course is clear. This is a priviledge that is
soley at the discretion of the starter at the course.
After turning in your scorecards, the course will permit you to play as many holes as desired after your round.

Rules of Play
Play shall be governed by the 2008 USGA Rules of
Play.
No "Mulligan's" or other free shots allowed.
If a player hits the ball out of bounds at any point on the course, he must hit another ball from the original ball location and take a one-stroke penalty. (This is a stroke and distance penalty)
If a player hits the ball into water or other unplayable position beside the area of play, but still considered in bounds, he must drop a ball at the location his original ball crossed the edge of the hazard and take a one stroke penalty.
If a player must drop a ball, he must do so along a line from the hole to the point of exit from play and not to exceed two club-lengths from that point. A drop is made by facing the flag and extending his arm straight out to his side parallel to the ground and releasing the ball.
We will play "winter rules" which means a player may slightly roll his ball to improve his lie, if necessary.
The foursome for a particular round shall be determined by the order of arrival of the players. The first four players that sign in shall constitute the first foursome that day. The next four constitute the next foursome to the tee, and so on. Teams members need not, and probably will not, play together each week. However, players are encouraged to contact the individual that they will be playing against to work out their schedules so that they can play together.
Electric carts must be used for all rounds this year. The cost is included in your green fee.
Players must sign in at the clubhouse prior to proceeding to the tee. Upon completion of the round, one member of the foursome shall be responsible for turning in the scorecard at the clubhouse, prior to playing extra holes. The player’s full name and score for each hole must be written legibly. Players who signed in and whose cards are not turned in will receive the maximum score on each hole.
Everyone is expected to play during the scheduled time. In extenuating circumstances, the course may allow one to play at other times, but you must contact the course first, and may have to pay the normal green fee directly to the course. Play outside the scheduled time is not encouraged by the league, is strictly at the discretion of the course and subject to the rules below.
If a player is approved to play at a different time, or forgets to turn in his scorecard on Monday, he must email his hole-by-hole scores (total score does not count) or physically deliver the scorecard to Joe Bouterse by 9:00pm EDT the Wednesday immediately following the Monday of league play, and turn in his scorecard to either Carl Tocco or Joe Bouterse by the following Monday.
Players must complete at least half of all rounds to be eligible for any awards.
Players must complete at least five holes for his score to count. If a player quits after five holes and prior to completing the round, he will receive the maximum allowed score for the remaining holes.
If play is halted by league officials, the remaining holes for each player shall be scored as one over par for each hole.
The course insurance policy requires that anyone on the course must be an authorized player with his own set of clubs and be at least twelve years of age.

Scoring
Scoring will be done using players' net score based
on a handicap that will be established and revised
throughout the season by computer software. Thus,
scoring will begin on the first week of play. First
place in the league will go to the team with the
highest point total.
The player with the lowest NET SCORE from one team will play the player with the lowest NET SCORE from the other team, and the players with the second-lowest NET SCORES will play each other. A team may earn a maximum of six points. If a player has a lower net score than his opponent, he will earn two points. If they tie, they each earn one point. If he loses, his point score is zero. A team must field three players or forfeit the round for the player(s) that are absent. All three players per team count in the scoring.

| Only the last 10 scores are considered for handicapping. | |||||||||
| The equation for calculating a differential is ... | |||||||||
| Diff = (Adjusted Gross Score - Rating) x (113 / Slope) | |||||||||
| 3. Use the differentials to calculate a handicap. | |||||||||
| Out of the 10 available calculated differentials the | |||||||||
| 4 highest differentials are discarded (not used). | |||||||||
| Differentials 'used' are added together... | |||||||||
| 9.0+6.0+6.0+9.3+6.0+7.1 = 43.4 | |||||||||
| Then divide by the total number used. | |||||||||
| Pre-Handicap = 43.4 / 6 | Pre-Handicap = 7.233 | ||||||||
| Tiger is a regular player, so according to the | |||||||||
| handicap setup the Handicap Percent is 80 | |||||||||
| Handicap = 7.233 x 80 | Handicap = 5.78 | ||||||||
| Convert the handicap to a 'course' handicap using the slope of Sahm. | |||||||||
| Handicap = Handicap x (Slope / 113) | |||||||||
| Handicap = 5.78 x (110 / 113) | |||||||||
| Handicap = 5.63 | |||||||||
| Final Handicap = 5.63 | |||||||||
Position Rounds

competitive aspect of the league. The mid-season
position round will be held on July 14th. The final
round on August 25th will also be a position round.

Tie Breaker Rules
Sometimes
the competition may be so close that teams tie in
terms of total number of points. If this should
happen in the 2008 season, the following tie-breaker
rules will be applied in the order specified. If all
the players are not present the week the tie-breaker
is applied, the team with the most players present
automatically wins the tie-breaker. If no winner is
determined after applying Rule #1, then Rule #2 will
be applied. If that doesn't resolve the tie, Rule #3
will be used, and so on, until a winner is
determined.
Rule #1—The lowest average net score for the team for the current round wins.
Rule #2—The lowest average net score for the team for the last three rounds wins.
Rule #3—The lowest average gross score for the team for the current round wins.
Rule #4—The lowest average gross score for the team for the last three rounds wins.
Rule #5—A simple coin toss determines the winner.

There
will be a mid-season pizza party and awards ceremony
following play on July 14th. Individual awards for
lowest handicap, lowest gross score and other
surprise awards will be given. The end-of-season
awards presentation will be held after the last night
of play.
There will be awards for the first and second place teams as determined by points. There will be individual awards for lowest handicap, lowest gross score and other crazy things. It is recommended that awards be donated by members and their companies. Awards may also be donated for random drawings at the awards ceremony.
