High School Ministry: What does it mean to be ONE?
Last summer, the high school ministry focused on becoming one. Several opportunities helped us in our pursuit of knowing each other more and being connected with each other. The first opportunity occurred on Wednesday nights as students came to church for a Bible study on relationships. Students studied eight different “one another” statements from Scripture such as, love one another, accept one another, and forgive one another.  After the Bible study was completed, students had a great time heading out to area restaurants like Culver’s, A&W, and Taco Bell just to hang out together.

Another opportunity for oneness occurred at the CIY summer conference.  Over 135 students and adults attended the conference in Tennessee.  It was a week focusing on oneness with God and oneness with each other.  The students grew from the messages and the Word of God and made decisions to eliminate things in their lives that were isolating them from oneness with God and each other.  CIY was a powerful week full of conviction and life-change and helped the students build solid relationships with each other.

New opportunities for oneness occurred overseas.  A team of 18 students went to Panama for 16 days and a team of 10 students went to Romania for 16 days.  Even though these trips were designed for service, God worked through the students to help build oneness as the students worked hard together, served together, lived life together, and learned so much together. God allowed the students to come home with new convictions and perspectives on living and giving to others in need.  The students also learned about oneness from a bigger perspective as they met and built relationships with their brothers and sisters in Christ from other countries.  All in all, oneness is a pursuit that can never be accomplished in just one season of life.  It is a pursuit that we must have every season.  This summer helped lay a foundation for that and has given the students many opportunities to connect and learn about God’s desire for His church to be one.

A summer of service and spiritual growth for junior high
It’s been a very exciting time lately in the Junior High Ministry! The summer was full of students getting to know each other better and growing closer to Christ. We had an excellent week of Camp Allendale in Trafalgar, Indiana. The students learned how to set an example to students around them by their speech, life, love, faith and purity. They also sorted through and packed over 10,000 pounds of clothes to ship to people in need in Kosovo. We ended the week by celebrating with 11 students who decided to give their life to Christ and be baptized!
